Artist Residencies at 447 Minna

While physical space plays a significant role in the ability of an artist to dream, create, and tell stories—having affordable and accessible space can be a game changer for artists of all disciplines to dream without prohibitive financial restraints. CAST has spent a decade advocating for affordable space so that artists can afford to create freely and focus on their craft.

Launched in December 2022, these artist residencies at 447 Minna aim to provide San Francisco Bay Area artists the critical space, time, and resources to investigate new avenues in their work and create shared knowledge with the communities in the SoMa neighborhood.

Creative Container

The Creative Container residency is awarded to an artist whose work in community and moving culture forward can be further catalyzed by studio space. Through progress showings, critical discourse, and a culminating project, the studio residency provides a platform for artists who are deeply engaged in a creative practice that includes a diverse set of voices and perspectives.
