DITO LANG & SF Songbird Festival Presents “Taking Up the Space”
Inter-generational Queer Media Screening and Artist Q&A
Cost: Free
Join us at the 447 Minna building for multi-sensory art installation by Jenn Ban (she/they) and a screening of several media pieces by the “Taking Up the Space” artist residency followed by an artist Q & A.
Jenn Ban‘s installation piece DITO LANG utilizes upcycled and recycled materials to create interactive soft-sculptures of serpents, collective soundscapes, scents, and visual affirmations, all aimed at creating a safe space for individual and collective healing.
Take Up the Space is an intergenerational artist residency for queer & trans artists of all stripes that got them making new media-based works. After two months of planning and recruitment, with the production an producer support of Queer Rebel Production, they launched the Queer Rebel Productions – “Taking up The Space” artist residency in July 2022. This screening will include several media pieces from the residency followed by an Artist Q & A about their work, inspiration and reflection on the intersection between social justice and their art practices.
