Join us for a showcase of works created in our Creative Container artist residency program!
Saturday, February 24, 2024
Program:
Artist Panel: 6:00 - 6:45 pm
Curator Talk: 7:00 - 7:45 pm
Curated by Mattie Loyce, CAST's inaugural artist in residence, the Creative Container residency is designed to benefit artists whose work in community and moving culture forward can be further catalyzed by studio space. Loyce selected local Bay Area artists Héctor Muñoz-Guzmán, Maya Fuji, and Yarrow Slaps to use space in our 447 Minna Black Box Theater and work in response to the question: What does a future of liberation and abundance look like?
Before the showcase, the artists will spend four days exploring the critical nature of the prompt and tapping into each other's process and praxis through the proximity of the working space. The goal of the Creative Container is to have artists interrogate a question mutually independent of one another AND have the opportunity for critical creation with mutual witness. Loyce asks these three artists to go through the journey of critical response and creation together as a part of her socially engaged and critical curatorial practice.
Join us for a closing exhibition of the work, artist panel talk, curator's talk and more.
