“The Cape” by Patricia Diart
Exhibition and Book Signing
Saturday, November 23, 2024
In this performance, artist Patricia Diart shares a deeply personal narrative in the form of a letter to her father, a former police officer in Baltimore, reflecting on the domestic violence her family endured during his time on the force. This intimate piece is woven with powerful reflections on civic issues and America’s complex social history, creating a work that resonates with today’s ongoing political conversations.
Diart’s project, which has traveled across police stations, city plazas, museums, and protests, continues to spark dialogue and foster reflection on the intersections of personal experience, authority, and societal change. We invite the community to join us in experiencing this impactful performance.
The artist will be holding a presentation of the works followed by a signing of her book, “No Solid Ground”.
This exhibition has been funded by the SF Arts Commission.
